The Pawd
General
The Pawd and clip are made out of polyethylene terephthalate glycol, a 3D printing filament. Depending on the specific brand of filament used, it can withstand temperatures up to 70–80°C (167-185°F) before softening. It resists water, oils, and some chemicals. Please contact me for specifics on the maker of the filament for more information.
Cleaning
Wash the Pawd with water and regular dish soap. Use a soft brush to remove any stuck on dirt or residue. Rinse thoroughly.
To remove odors, it is recommended to wipe the Pawd with 70% isoprophyl alcohol and allow it to air dry. Do not use harsh chemicals like acetone or strong solvents, as they can damage and/or soften the material. Do not wash the Pawd in the dishwasher, as high heat and dishwashing detergent could warp or degrade the Pawd over time.
Safety
Inspect your Pawd before use for any signs of significant wear that can impede usability. If your Pawd and/or other accessories become damaged, please contact me! I do my best to ensure I reuse and recycle as much as possible to help reduce my footprint.
These items are not toys, keep away from children. The Pawd and its accompanying accessories may pose a choking risk if left unattended. Always supervise your dog during training, do not leave the Pawd or its accessories unattended with your dog. Store in a secure location where pets and children can not access.
These products are not intended for chewing or to be put into the dog’s mouth. The Pawd contains two neodymium magnets that can be harmful if ingested. If you suspect your pet has ingested any part of the Pawd or its accessories, seek veterinary care immediately.
Essential Oils & 3D Printed Products
Some essential oils can significantly degrade or soften plastics over time. The rate in which this occurs varies based on the oil, the type of material used, as well as how long it is in contact with the material for.
The material used to create the Pawds (polyethylene terephthalate glycol) is less porous than the material commonly used for 3D printed products (polylactic acid). Since it is less porous, it is more resistant to moisture and oils, making it suited for long-term use in a variety of different environments and uses. You may also find some essential oil companies, as well as companies within the food and beauty industries, using polyethylene terephthalate glycol for containment of their products. However, some essential oils, especially clove, thyme, and citrus-based oils, can still weaken the material with extended and prolonged contact over time.
As such, it is recommended to ensure that the oil used is fully absorbed into the article (Q-tip, cotton ball, felt, etc.) before placing it inside the Pawds, and that you remove the scented article when no longer in use, either disposing of it or storing it in an airtight container or jar.
Storage
When placing scented articles in a Pawd, you can place the scented article directly inside the Pawd, in a small cut drinking straw, a small cut piece of centrifuge tube, on foil, or similar. However, it is recommended to remove the scented item from the Pawd when no longer in use.
It is recommended to store Pawds and scented articles separately, each in their own airtight containers to prevent contamination, and to preserve the life of your Pawds. Pawds used for the same odor can be kept together.
The Clip
How To Use
Line up the groove of the Pawd to attach the clip. Push the clip into the Pawd until it snaps in place. To remove the clip from the Pawd, push onto the lower portion of the clip close to the Pawd’s base to unhook it from the Pawd. Do not push or pull on the outer clip arm, as this could cause unnecessary stress on the clip. This may be a bit hard to do the first time, but it will get easier once it wears in!
Care
Some wear along the Pawd’s groove and/or the clip is expected over time, even with normal use. This should not affect usability. If it is extremely worn and is no longer secure, please contact me for a replacement or refund.
The clip is designed to slide onto items up to 7mm thick. Forcing it onto thicker objects may cause it to break or lose functionality.
The Aerial Attachment
Parts & Care
The aerial attachment allows for creative hide placements. Clip it onto itself via the string, clip it onto the other hole on the bottom of the Pawd, or even insert the tip of the carabiner in a small crevice/hole. Avoid excessive swinging, pulling, or force, as this may weaken the attachment over time.
To clean the aerial attachment, wipe it gently with soap and water. Avoid scrubbing the nylon lanyard, as this may damage the material.
How To Use
To secure the attachment to the Pawd, slide the small threaded loop through one of the two holes on the bottom of the Pawd.
When the threaded loop exits the side of the Pawd, insert the carabiner side of the attachment through the loop, and gently pull until secure.
